Major (later Lieutenant Colonel) Walter Dickens Daunt, Deputy Assistant Adjutant and Quartermaster General, was the son of Colonel John Charles Campbell Daunt who was awarded the Victoria Cross for his actions during the Indian Mutiny in 1857. He was part of a contingent of British and
